Advent is a season of expectant waiting, a time of hope and promise calling us to trust that Light and Life are on the horizon, that God is breaking into our present lives with goodness and grace. “O Come All You Faithful” is an invitation to deepen our relationship to the Holy, to gather joyfully to celebrate the power of Love over hate and despair, and to act generously in the manner God has acted toward us.
Dec 1, The first Sunday in Advent: “Come with Hope” God’s faithfulness brings us to a place where we can thrive and be ourselves. This new opportunity is a gift. We don’t want to waste it. What does “thriving”” look like for you? How can you participate in hope? Dec 8, The Second Sunday in Advent: “Come with Peace” God sends us One who teaches us to give. What does it mean to “give your best? We may think our gifts are better than what is offered. Or we might think our gift isn’t good enough. How do we make peace with ourselves and with our gifts?
Dec 15 The Third Sunday in Advent: “Come with Joy” God joyfully loves each and every one of us. Giving the “perfect” gift creates joy! One can feel joy in each act of giving, especially when that gift conveys God’s love.
Dec 22 The Fourth Sunday in Advent: “Come with Love” Mary’s Song reflects the fullness of God’s love in our lives. Giving is a reflection of our love for God, for this communion and for the wider world. Love requires commitment. Mary gives it her all; can we?
